The big weekend in the UK maker calendar is nearly here! This is the second year for the UK Maker Faire which is a baby of the big beast in California every year, and it’s on this weekend March 13-14 at the Centre for Life in the middle of Newcastle.
We’ll be there !
Got a project that could use some sugru? Something broken waiting for a fix? Or a badly needed hack?
There’ll be a limited amount of free sugru available for hacking over the weekend, so email us at hacks@sugru.com, tell us what you’d like to hack / repair / make and we’ll book you in!

I really need some sugru!  I have a beautiful antique gas heat stove that has a lot of chromed cast-iron decorative embellishments.  The large cast-iron piece that goes across the bottom is missing a hook to hold it onto the stove.  I do not use the stove as a functioning heater; I merely put candles inside so it looks like a lively, warm fire. (It also keeps my cats from catching themselves on fire).  I need sugru to form the missing hook so that my large, decorative antique will be pretty again!

@sharon, brilliant! Are you coming to Maker Faire? Is the piece carry-able?

I have some walking boots that are still in good condition but the sole keeps pulling away from the leather upper.  Glue works to stick them back together, but there are still little holes that water can get into. I was wondering if putting some sugru on top of the join may help to waterproof them better.  Do you think it’s suitable candidate for a sugru hack?

@zoe, yep sounds like it would work! are you coming along? hope so! :)

Jane on March 11, 2010 at 12:40 pm

@jane I’d love to but all sorts of things have cropped up this weekend, doesn’t look like I’ll have time to.  Looking forward to playing with some sugru eventually though :)

New it would come in handy – got a kitchen implement that needs sugru attention – when will you have more?

The quick and dirty hack I did on my falling apart iPhone case at your stand is still looking solid a week later, despite none of us knowing if it would hold. It’s effectively like being able to weld with silicone, very impressed!
