Ahh... am I missing something? What is sugru?

How to make a beautiful stained glass bike light

Bike lights are all pretty standard; plastic and ugly.
So we set ourselves the challenge to make them beautiful, and stained glass came to mind!

It turned out amazing so we made a step-by-step Instructable so you can easily make your own.

sugru properties that help in this project:
● it bonds very well to glass and metal
● it has very good dampening properties so helps to protect the glass when cycling around
● it’s waterproof
● it’s easy to use

*You don’t need to buy stained glass for this project, we asked the nice people at a local stained glass workshop if we could have some of their off-cuts. We just collected a bunch of glass from their bin for free.

lovely saddle repair

I love this blue sugru repair! The blue really stands out proud and pretty much matches the rims – it looks awesome !
Andrea says “I used sugru to repair the lovely leather saddle on my bicycle Ashley. The sugru adhered very well to the leather and plastic. The saddle now has a new life.”

There’s something about bike hacks that get me particularly excited. Maybe it’s because bikes live such long lives, and get swapped around, bought and sold, and they just keep on going…the way you can get spare parts easily / swap around components, upgrade, downgrade, repair, customise… so simple and easy as well. It’s true I’m a little obsessed with bikes (love riding them, love hacking them, love drawing them…hmm should I be worried about myself?) but aren’t good bikes just the ultimate in sustainable design?

For a long time, James said he loved the idea of sugru but it wasn’t for him. Then he asked for some for his bike bell… and he got hooked! image
