I’m getting ready to do something similar with my 3g iPhone – figured it would be better than the cases you can buy.
But I like this – I’d like to see how it looks from the front – I’m trying to decide on the best way to wrap around without it looking bad on the front side.

I made just a patch of sugru on the back of my iphone to..
a) give it slight elevation off the bar in case of booze related accidents.
b) give it a little character
c) make the phone a little grippier
d) to try out my sugru. 
unfortunately I don’t have a camera other than the phone handy, so I can’t post a photo. But I carved a very crude face into the sugru, and I can happily report that it has been compared multiple times to the “necronomicon” book that bites Ash’s hand in the movie Army of Darkness. Trust me, it’s a compliment.

If it’s on the back of your iPhone, try holding it in-front of a mirror and snapping the picture. We wanna see
