Create a cutlery counterweight

My sister designed this cutlery counterweight for our dad, whose fine motor control has diminished with age. It needs to be removable to use on any of the forks. She is a great cook, and he has always enjoyed family meals, so the inability to balance a fork long enough to get the bite from the plate to the palate was an impediment to his enjoyment. We are hoping this assistive technology will improve his quality of life.
