Make your in-car phone holder fit an iPhone

For years I have used a very simple, cheap, generic phone-gripping thing to hold my phone in my car, especially when I'm using it as a sat-nav. You can get proper iPhone mounts, but they often don't work well if you keep it, as I do, in a rubber case - this one has always been fine. But my iPhone 4, being the smallest one I've owned so far, tended to slip out at awkward moments, especially when the stretchy power-lead was plugged into the bottom and pulling it downwards and forwards. But a little sugru extension to the bottom supports means it now holds the phone very snugly, and the arrangement still leaves room for a power cable if wanted. Quentin, Cambridge
