Mark the rudder center point on a boat

Just finished the Pacific Cup Yacht Race from SF to Kaneohe. In my halfway box was a package of sugru. After wrestling with electrician’s tape to mark the rudder center point on the boat, we decided to give sugru a shot.
We leave on 7/31 for the sail from Kaneohe to Friday Harbor, WA. We’ll let you know how the sugru worked after 3 weeks in marine environment on VALIS, a Pacific Seacraft 44.
