I always wanted to listen to my iPod in my car, which has a pretty crappy stereo that has no USB port, can't control an iPod and reads MP3s only from CDs, like they did in the early middle ages. Now, if there's something I hate, it's having cables dangling around in my car, and searching for the ipod just to skip a track - so I really needed a car cradle. The ones you can buy are usually bulky, ugly, and often require an external charger to be plugged into the dashboard: ugly and messy.? So I bought a spare iPod connector from the dudes at chargeconverter.com, and hacked my own iPod cradle out from 5 packets of black sugru. Total cost? sugru: 8 EUR, connector: 2 EUR, and the electronics for free, scavenged from some old cell phone car charger. And I still have a spare minipack of sugru :) You can see the results in the photos: a clean holder that charges my iPod and feeds music directly into my car stereo AUX port, with no cables running around the dashboard. Plus, the pod is always within reach of my right hand, so I don't have to risk driving into a tree every time I want to skip a song. Thanks sugru! Max, Milan.
