Seal a hole in a car

It was an accident, honest!

I’ve been using sugru to make modifications to my bow grips, and had a spare pack in the fridge. Today we needed it before Dad came home and saw his car.

Libby, my 14 year old daughter was practicing in the garden, when the arrow slipped off the bow just as she loosed it. Unfortunately it went through our gate and hit our car. Fortunately the arrow punched straight through the galvanised steel of the tail gate on our poor old, long suffering car, and stopped, missing all the electrics, glass, indicators etc. I used a piece of plastic tubing from a knitting needle with a knot in it through the hole to act as a bung, fed the Sugru through, pulled tight and snipped off the spare tubing. Then a layer of Sugru on top and a kitchen spatula to put a smooth surface, filling the hole and levelling the indentation. In a couple of hours I’ll throw some dust and garden soil at it to make it blend in with the rest of the dirty old car.

Very happy with the result. It has sealed the hole so it won’t get water in and rust, levelled the indentation and sealed down any loose or flaking paint.
