How to shock proof a GoPro mount on your bike fork

I wanted a GoPro mount robust enough to resist the shocks to be mounted in the fork of my mountain bike.

Kit

  • GoPro Tripod mount
  • 1 single-use pack of Sugru
  • L shaped metal bracket
  • Clamp
  • GoPro to mount on
  • Cling film

Step 1

Cling film covering bike

I put some cling film around the fork to avoid Sugru from sticking to it.

Step 2

Metal bracket placed on bike and held with Sugru

Make two small balls with Sugru and put it into the L shaped metal bracket then put it in the fork and hold it in that position during 12-24 hours.

I put the plastic because I only wanted the Sugru to have the round shape of the fork but I didn't want to stick it to it so I can move the device to other round part of my bike.

Step 3

Sugru overing base of GoPro mount

Put some Sugru in the base of the GoPro tripod mount to have more grip and let it set for 12-24 hours.

Step 4

Metal bracket being pressed onto bike with hand

Once the Sugru has set, hold it with your hand in the correct position and use the clamp to secure it firmly.

Step 5

Metal bracket covered with a tube

I used some old inner tube to cover it and avoid scratching the fork.

Step 6

GoPro camera mounted on bracket held together with Sugru

I used a 1/4"-20 UNC screw to hold the tripod mount in place.

Step 7

GoPro camera on metal bracket

The end result!
