[new film]: sugru in primary colours!
Exciting news! Over the last year or so we've had hundreds of emails asking for different colours, and the ability to mix a wider range of colours. So... we've been beavering away for ages to make it work. And now we've cracked it :)
As of today, sugru comes in primary colours!
Finally for those of you who prefer a subtler more invisible hack, you'll now be able to match almost any colour. And for all you colour lovers – the mixing possibilities have just exploded!
We're so glad you pushed us on this one - the yellow and red are beautiful :-) We hope you love them as much as we do.
[PS The music on the film is 'Enthusiasm For Life Defeats Existential Fear' by The Flaming Lips.]

Nevermind, seems my old earplugs where afected by the alchol I used to clean them. Once a week over the past 10months has made it a little softer, and rubbery. Also it possibly expanded a bit, but I'm not sure (they don't fit perfectly anymore).
Did you change the formula? The batch I just got seems to cure harder then the stuff I used to have.
@maciej Thanks for letting us know how you feel. We got a lot of feedback from people saying that 12 minipacks were just too many to use before the use-by date and so far we've not had very little negative reaction about this change, most people don't want to have more than they can use. This can amount to a lot of waste accross the 10's of 000's of people. It's not quite the same price (£10 instead of £11.50), although you're right, per minipack it is more expensive now. We introduced larger packs (3x20g and 1 x 100g) which work out better value per gram for larger projects. I can see you've used two packs in the past year, what do you use it for?
You're greedy as hell, now you only give 8 packs for the same price as it you used sell 12 packs.
NOT THE WAY YOU TREAT LOYAL CUSTOMERS !!!!!
Price increase from £0,96 to £1,25 per piece is not good. The 12-packs before were a lot cheaper.
@Jill - thanks for posting and yes I see what you and Barnaby mean and it might be something we can look at for the future... but for the core colours if you're not going to mix, then would people prefer red or magenta?... I suspect red would be the more popular choice...
@Molo, thanks! for the story page we programmed our own layout... well our friends at @attopartners did :) @Olav actually we did reduce the price a bit at the same time as changing the number of minipacks in the 5g pack size. The change is in response to lots of actual customer feedback, so we're confident it's the right thing to do and have had great support so far with it. Once you've used sugru, the value of in practice isn't really by the gram, it's more in the number of uses you get from your pack. You can often save something large and expensive sometimes with only a very little piece. We've heard from lots of people 8 uses for this price is good value and that people really don't like when they have sugru going to waste at the end of the shelf life, but if that's not the case then we'll soon find out!
Jane, I think what Barnaby is trying to say is: you can't mix as many colours with red, yellow and blue as with cyan, magenta and yellow (both are subtractive). Red, yellow and blue are not truly spaced primaries - they just used to think they were in the old days. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_color
But I like them anyway!
I think the product seems great, but I believe that you are about to kill it when you increase the price (pr item) by 50% "overnight" (from 12 to 8pcs for the same price). The explanation about the shelf-life seems lame to me...
Hi, I read about Sugru through twitter and I love it! I love everything about it: the story, the process, the product and the concept! I really like your web page and how the presentation of your story works on my iphone: http://sugru.com/story Have you made your own lay out at word press or do you use a standard? I would love to make the same for my project. Have a nice day and keep up the good work!
Mira :)

@danilo, there is a detailed colour mixing guide in a booklet inside every pack. We'll work on an online version too - good suggestion - thanks :)
Alright. Thanks for the reply James. Sugru is still very awesome. It's protecting my phone, my cables, my ma's hairdryer, my thermos mug, my laptop power brick, and my DIY camera rig. In my opinion, I'd like to see the 12-packs make a comeback. They keep good in the fridge. Cheers to all you Sugru Gurus.
good choice, but is it possible to get a detailed table on percentages required in mixing primary color to obtain a fixed colour? In the photo I can see some ratio of primary colours used (W90 R10 or B50-Y50 etc)...why not to publish a detailed table on it (perhaps matched with correspondent pantone colors as on the photo) ?
Yay! Red and yellow look awesome, but why get rid of orange and green??? They were great colours!
+1 on the request for clear.
Cool stuff. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic news can't wait to get them ordered and hacking away
OHHHHH! Make mine in clear please!
Gorgeous video - seems like you guys have been working really hard to get it spot on so can't wait to try out the new colours (especially red!)
Thanks everyone for your amazing responses :) To answer some of your questions: Adam's and Weeble, that's right, we no longer sell orange or green. Charlene, great suggestion, we should give the Barbican a call :) Roger, I have just sent you an email from our order system, don't worry, we will sort this out for you, thanks for letting us know. Barnaby, we used the subtractive colour mixing method as it created great results with sugru. Jeff, we reduced the pack size as we have been getting feedback that the 12 pack is too big for most people to use up within the shelf life. Hope this helps, all the best, James
So pretty! Great job - love the possibilities of making pink, orange, lime green, etc. by mixing....
wowzer, that is brilliant stuff! looking forward to my new batch!
Will these replace the old colors or be in addition to them?
Brilliant stuff! Cant do without Sugru.
I like the colours and all, but where are the 12-packs? And prices seemed to have gone up. But I still like the product a lot. But it seems a wee bit expensive now.
Congrats on the new colors! Buying some now!!
Oh and speaking of colors and I know it's been asked before, but what about no color? Clear sugru? Sweet! DO eet!
YAY!!! I am one of them who has been harassing you about new colors and I am SOOOO happy, thank you thinak you thankyou thank you thank you!!!!!!!!
(now can you make clear sugru?) :P
My world just got much more colorful! It's a good thing.
Why Red & Blue not Magenta & Cyan?
just got mine in the mail - going to try the 2 x 4's and the screen door. will keep you posted.
Thank you so much for making yellow!
Wait, does this completely replace the old colours? Don't get me wrong: given the choice of one set or the other I definitely want the more flexible primary colours, but it's also nice to have a bunch of different colours that don't require careful mixing by hand. Can we still buy the old orange, green and blue colours somewhere?
nice shots
The three packs of Sugru I just opened had use-by dates of 27 & 28 May, 2012. However, they were unusable. They wouldn't knead smoothly and would break open with each manipulation.
I have used Sugru successfully in the past and would use it in the future, but the use-by date isn't very accurate.
Regards, Roger Vaught
Three Cheers!
Brilliant news, this will be great for patching and adding extra protection for our amateur radio kit, well done!!
Perfect! I was just going to order new sugru, and now I can try out the new colors!
Finally Sugru in RED & Yellow! Great, Sugru is even more cool now!
Good stuff! (Now even my stock of sugru needs an upgrade :-)
Does this mean the old colors will no longer be sold, I already have an old multi-color pack, but for some of the available colors, I would rather not open 2 or 3 of the color packets
YAY! That is SO cool (and has so many possibilities....) :o) Well, done - it must be such fun working out the colour mixes! Loved the video too.
Excellent development! Well-timed too, with a month to the Barbican Centre's Bauhaus exhibition. They should carry the new colours in the shop! Looking forward to playing with the new colours.
Wow! These primary colours can open up a world of design and creative creations! i love it!
Thanks Sugru for your hard development work!
Oh, yes!!! You did it. Thank you!!! I'm handing my leftover sugru to my siblings as soon as they show up and get myself the new variety. Just used some to repair an old knitting machine, though without regard for colouring. It's turquoise anyway so some orange didn't hurt anymore ;-).
Best wishes Linuxgirl
Fantastic News!!!
