I've had this phone since my husband and I started dating in 1994. (My apartment-mate bought it for me because she was sick of me calling him from the phone in her room.) It makes calls just fine, but the plastic covering on the antenna has come apart and fallen off over the years, and the wire underneath is all bendy, makes an awful echo-y noise, creates a lot of static, and gets stuck in our 5-year-old's hair when she talks to her grandparents on the phone. I looked at replacement phones a while back, but none of them seem to be made as well--they all seem more flimsy. So, I sugrued. Used 2 5ml sachets, and voila! Sound is totally clear, and the antenna doesn't move around and make noise any more. Sara, Washington.
