Adjust your earbud wires to suit your in-use preferences

I wear my apple ear buds a lot to talk on my phone at work but only need 1 ear in, so I find the other bud dangles all over the place and gets caught on things. I wanted to a) make it shorter and b) still be able to use the 2nd bud should I need to. The solution; to join the spare wires together up until the point they need to split to reach my ears, so that there is less to dangle. I measured this point - just below my chin - with both buds in and then I ?joined them together with some flattened white sugru (which I rolled out with a pencil-cum-rolling pin). I also needed to stop the bud dangling but have it remain accessible, so I used a long thin sausage of sugru to make a coil that can be used to secure this bud to the main wire; it holds its coiled shape and will 'cling' to the wire.
