Waterproof damaged motorcycle leathers Seal leaking seams
I received my first batch of sugru recently and immediately applied it to something I’ve been meaning to fix for about a year: my motorcycle leather pants.
The problem is that the seam right in the crotch is bad, and when it rains the water will gather and pour down the tank right to the seat.. and right where you don’t want it. In case you didn’t know, good motorcycle leather pants with built in protective pads are EXPENSIVE. We are talking close to €400 and up. Aside from that one complicated triple leather seam that I can’t fix with my needle skills, the pants are still very good.
After riding about a year riding in rain like this, I thought I should try to sugru it - and it worked perfectly. It doesn’t show when standing or sitting. Even looking close, you might think it’s factory made, since some manufacturer’s use a rubber-like tape to waterproof seams. Granted, it’s not perfectly straight and evenly applied, but it’s close enough – and more importantly – functional! Been riding now for three days in the rain, all dry, all happy. :) Frank, Sweden
