And the London Design Entrepreneur Medal goes to...
ME!
Woohoo! I'm absolutely thrilled to have been given the first 'Design Entrepreneur' medal by London Design Festival :) The Jury that makes the decision is made up of some of the most accomplished, radical and well known designers in the world including Ron Arad and Thomas Heatherwick (whose designs include the 2012 Olympic Cauldron and the London Routemaster bus) - and they love Sugru Mouldable Glue!
Here's me receiving the award at an exclusive ceremony on Monday evening!
And here's the medal's homecoming to the Sugru factory!
The main medal went to the brilliant El Ultimo Grito (who are using Sugru in their work at the moment) and the lifetime achievement went to Sir Terence Conran, the founder of Habitat and the Conran Shop.
Until this year, LDF only gave out two medals per year - one for designer of the year, and one for lifetime achievement. Previous winners are Zaha Hadid, Marc Newson, Ron Arad, Paul Smith, Thomas Heatherwick and Vidal Sasoon. This year, the jury wanted to include not only people who have achieved great things already, but those that are working hard to achieve that success at the moment - they awarded two new medals - the medal for 'emerging talent' went to Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, and the 'design entrepreneur' medal came to us here at Sugru!
Thank you London Design Festival - with this award you're helping us get one step closer to our vision - of a world of fixers and creative problem solvers!
