How to make LEGO bendy!

You can use sugru to add bendy connections between lego bricks, which are perfect for making this trendy LEGO bracelet!

sugru is great for this because

- it's easy to mould
- it bonds really well to LEGO
- it's soft touch and flexible when cured
- it's strong, durable and weatherproof

Please take note that sugru is not suitable for children in its uncured form - but as soon as it's cured - its ready for playtime!

Kit

  • LEGO (2x2 bricks are best for making this bracelet)
  • sugru (about 2 5g packs should be enough)
  • Tissue paper
  • Soapy water
  • String

Step 1

Step 1

First you'll need 2 LEGO bricks. (These square 2 by 2 bricks work best for making this bracelet). For your bendy connection you will need a piece of sugru about this size.

Step 2

Step 2

Place the sugru on to one of the blocks, and form into a pyramid shape.

Step 3

Step 3

Push this against your second LEGO brick

Step 4

Step 4

Be careful that the sugru doesn't squash over the edge of the brick as you push them together. It's a good idea to place your fingers where the sugru meets the edge of the brick to stop this happening!

If you find sugru is sticking to your fingers, just use some dry tissue paper to wipe it off.

Step 5

Step 5

After you have pressed the sugru into both blocks, gently thin the sugru whilst separating the blocks apart again (keeping them connected with sugru!)

Be sure there are no creases or cracks in the sugru as this could form a tear when cured and flexy.

You can also use soapy water to smooth the sugru.

Step 6

Step 6

It should look something like this!

Step 7

Step 7

Continue adding blocks in this way!

It is a good idea to take a peice of string and measure around your wrist - this will give you an idea of how many lego blocks you will need.

Step 8

Step 8

Build your blocks in sections of four - this makes them easy to handle.

Step 9

Step 9

Then add your sections of four together in the same way!

Step 10

Step 10

Once you have made your bracelet to the desired length, leave it to cure for 24 hours.

Step 11

Step 11

Once cured it's ready to go! Make your awesome LEGO bracelet by wrapping it around your wrist and using a flat 2x4 piece (like this!) to connect the end two bricks of your bracelet.

Step 12

Step 12

Ta da - one super cool LEGO bracelet! You can then add LEGO to all kinds of things and attach them to the blocks and make it personal!

Step 13

Step 13

If tears appear - don't worry! These are easy to fix with a little more sugru.

Step 14

Step 14

Take a tiny amount like this

Step 15

Step 15

Press it into the crack and smooth into the rest of the sugru

Step 16

Step 16

Leave your sugru to cure overnight, and your repair is complete!
