Repair a knife's bone handle

A well meaning soul at church put my beloved Sheffield bread knife in a dishwasher. The adhesive between the blade and handle was totally shot and a crack had developed in the bone!! After letting the knife dry (and the crack close up), I used yellow, red, black, and white Sugru to match the bone. I rolled the Sugru into very thin ropes and pushed them gently into the space with a small knitting needle. A little water smoothed the repair.
