Create an Xbox Kinect TV mount

A few days ago, I noticed there was a screw hole under the Kinect (2), and, out of curiosity, I tried if it would fit on my camera tripod, and it did ! But it was ugly and wasted a lot of my precious living room space. I also discovered that I had a long metal screw that fitted perfectly through the Kinect screw hole, so I decided I'd try building my own Kinect TV mount (I hate buying stuff I can build myself). You'll need about 2$ of hardware parts + a small pack of black Sugru (assuming your TV is black). a. A 90° angle bracket. The more holes it has, the more adjustable your mount will be b. A ¼ inch wide, and 3 inches long screw (which is called a 1/4 - 20 UNC thread). The thicker your TV is, the longer the screw has to be. My TV is fairly thick, so 3 inches was perfect in my case (but slim TVs would probably need around a screw 2 inches long). And if your screw is a little too long, you can always manage something by shimming with washers. c. A 1/4 – 20 UNC nut, in my case, I had a couple of compatible wing nuts, which was even easier to adjust d. I use Sugru because… Well it's awesome, and if you're not satisfied, you can just take a scalpel (or exacto), remove it, and restart. I guess hot glue would also work, but it's much more of a pain to remove Start by opening the pack of Sugru, play with it for 30-60 seconds to warm it up, and stick it behind on of the sides of the angle bracket (I shape it as a cone, it helps shaping more evenly) and put it behind your TV, as high as possible Wait about 18-24h to let it cure (harden) Put the screw in the side of the bracket that's parallel to the floor, upside down (head of the screw towards the floor) and screw the nut, while letting maybe half an inch “unscrewed" Grab your Kinect with one hand, and the upped part of the screw in the other hand, and get the screw about ¼ to ½ inch inside the Kinect's screw hole Voila ! You might some adjustments to do : forwards-backwards (by changing using the bracks other holes) and up-down (by shimming with some washers). The only thing left to do is to re-setup your Kinect (since it was moved), and you're good to go !
