Fix a hand-crafted pilgrim pot

I made this pot in 2012 based on the pots pilgrims carried or bought at sacred sites in Middle Ages. I have a chronic pain condition that makes work progress slow so was seriously disappointed when it broke in the firing as I knew it was unlikely I would make another one. I couldn't bring myself to throw out the pieces and so they stayed fermenting in my studio until I discovered sugru and the art of hacking. Prior to this I could not have considered repairing work with visible repair marks. In 2013 I repaired the pot using sugru and although it was badly scarred I started to see it in a new light. I let it ferment in that form for another while until I discovered Japanese art of Kintsukuroi in which the repair marks are made more visible by being filled with gold. The idea being that the pot is made more beautiful and valuable for having been broken. This is challenging stuff indeed for a recovering perfectionist! When I heard about the Fail better show that Jane curated in The Science Museum in Dublin it struck a cord with me and I thought I would send on these photos of my sugru/Kintsukuroi 'fail better' Pilgrim pot.
