Replace broken boot zippers

The zipper handle on my girlfriend's boots broke off. Because of their YYZ design, they were very difficult to open or close by hand.

I originally used a paper clip and sugru to replace the mechanism. Unfortunately, the paper clip was too soft and moved around inside the sugru and it ended up coming apart.

I tried again by soldering the paper clip to itself to make it stiffer. I then added sugru and saved the day. This fix is now over a year old and is holding fine.
