Meet Hackbot! He's a product called Third Hand that features a weighted base, two alligator clip "hands", and a magnifying glass "head". Using black wads of sugru, I covered the wingnuts used to adjust the position for comfort. For the alligator clips, I held the clips partially open using hardware clamps and coated the tips in sugru. Using my most oft-used sugru tool (a letter opener wet with soapy water), I cut the gob in half to separate the jaws. They now hold items without puncturing or scratching because the teeth are covered in sugru. This made Hackbot the perfect tool to help me keep works-in-progress out of harm's way, and a great place to hold small projects overnight to cure.
