How to repair cracks in your car dashboard with Sugru
Bumps and bangs inevitably happen inside your car and so in this guide, we will show you how to repair cracks and holes that may appear on your dashboard and on the inside of the car door.
Sugru is great for this task because:
- It is strong and durable
- Can be colour mixed to match the inside of your car
- It bonds really well to car interiors
You will need:
Your damaged car part
1 or 2 single-use packs of Sugru (depending on the size of the crack)
Step 1: Colour mix
The inside of your car may be black or white, in which case you probably won’t choose to colour mix. But in this instance we used a packet of white Sugru with a little black in order to make a grey to match our interior! (Hint: For colour mixing, it is always easier to start lighter and add more black, rather than the other way around).
Step 2: Time for a sausage roll!
No no, not an edible one (but then again…). Get your car crack and simply roll your Sugru into a thin sausage over the gaps.
Step 3: Firm press
This is the part where you... firmly press the Sugru down. In case you hadn't guessed.
Step 4: Wash and wait
Wipe soapy water over the Sugru to create a smooth surface finish and to get rid of any cracks, fingerprints or lumps and bumps. Leave the Sugru to set for 12-24 hours and hey presto! The interior of your car is fixed and ready for more great years of service!
