I am co-ordinator for Hampshire Conservation Volunteers (HCV) who do tasks all over the county to help conserve wildlife. The group has been going for 40 years and one of the activities marking this anniversary is to bury a Time Capsule full of memorabilia from our last 40 years. We almost buried it last weekend but is was pointed out to me that, as our container is an old ammunition box, it has 8 air holes in it! This is not good if you want to keep water out. At B&Q sugru was recommended to me by one of the staff... in fact she pointed out that it had sold quickly and there was only one left so I bought it.
I have not been disappointed. It was easy to apply and use and looks neat as well.
I'm not sure if anyone else has used sugru to make an old ammunition container watertight for burial - I'd like to think I am the first!
