Keep your desk tidy with upcycled jars
AND OTHER GREAT ORGANISING IDEAS
No one deserves a cluttered desk. Setting up a new workspace at home, at work, or when moving into a student dorm is exciting, but where should you store all your bits and bobs without them getting in the way?
Make it easier to find everything you need with this cool space-saving storage solution using upcycled jars and Sugru Mouldable Glue.
Watch the video and see just how easy this idea is.
Sugru is ideal for this project because it forms a strong bond to lots of different materials, including wood and metal. Three-quarters of a single-use pack of Sugru is enough to hold one regular-sized jar.
Need to stock up on some Sugru? Head over to the Sugru shop!
Divide your Sugru in four. You’ll only need three pieces for this project. Press each piece onto the lid of your jar evenly distributed, and shape into a cone.
Press your jar lid carefully against the underside of your desk or shelf, ensuring a strong, level bond and leave to set.
Once the Sugru has set, you can store anything you like out of the way but still within easy reach!
Sugru sets in 12-24 hours. Depending on the thickness of the application, for load-bearing projects, allow up to 48 hours for Sugru to fully set.
You’ll still have a little Sugru leftover, so why not check out the Projects & Inspiration page for more ideas?
We’ve Sugru-ed our jars to the underside of a shelf above our desk, but you could hang your jars anywhere! Why not use them in the kitchen to store tea bags, herbs and spices?
